Litigation Solicitor | 2–5 PQE | Broad Civil Litigation

 An established Auckland mid-tier law firm is looking to appoint a Litigation Solicitor with approximately 2–5 years’ PQE to join its highly experienced dispute resolution team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a litigator who enjoys variety and wants to continue building broad experience across a diverse range of civil and commercial disputes.

The Role:

 You will work alongside experienced litigators across matters ranging from straightforward disputes through to complex litigation, with exposure to a varied client base and different areas of law.

The practice covers matters including:
  • Commercial and contractual disputes
  • Insolvency, receiverships and bankruptcy
  • Insurance disputes
  • Property disputes
  • Building and construction-related disputes
  • Debt recovery
  • Defamation and media matters
  • Unit title disputes
  • Judicial review
  • Intellectual property and technology disputes
  • Alternative dispute resolution
You will be involved throughout the lifecycle of matters, including legal research and opinion writing, drafting pleadings and submissions, preparing evidence, assisting with case strategy, negotiations and mediations, and preparing matters for hearings and court proceedings.

At the 3–4 year level, you will have the opportunity to take increasing ownership of matters, work directly with clients and further develop your advocacy and dispute resolution skills with the support of experienced senior lawyers.

The Requirements:

  • Approximately 3–4 years’ PQE
  • New Zealand civil and/or commercial litigation experience
  • Strong legal research, drafting and analytical skills
  • Experience assisting with court proceedings and dispute resolution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A practical and commercial approach to resolving disputes
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients
  • A collaborative approach and genuine interest in developing as a litigator
